Introduction
Life is filled with choices β some easy, others life-changing.
As believers, we are blessed with a beautiful gift from Allah: the prayer of Istikhara.
It is a prayer of trust, hope, and surrender, asking Allah to guide us towards what is good and protect us from what is harmful.
What is Istikhara?
β Istikhara comes from the Arabic word meaning βto seek the best.β
It is a special prayer where we ask Allah:
- To guide us toward the best decision
- To remove harm and make good easy
- To bless us with what benefits us in both worlds
β Hadith Reference:
The Prophet Muhammad ο·Ί said:
βIf anyone of you is concerned about a decision, he should pray two units (rakβahs) of non-obligatory prayer and then say the supplication of Istikhara.β
(Sahih al-Bukhari)
How to Perform Istikhara (Simple Sunnah Way)
πΏ Steps:
- Perform wudu (ablution).
- Pray two rakβahs (units) of voluntary prayer.
- After completing the prayer, recite the Istikhara Dua sincerely.
- Trust Allah completely and proceed peacefully.
β

βAnd it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you, and you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows, and you do not know.β
